- What happens if I provide false information?
- You must only provide true and correct information on a business/seller/individual.
- You may be held civilly and criminally liable if you knowingly provided false information about a business or an individual.
- Is there a fee for submitting a complaint?
- No, it is free to list anyone on Dodgy Business.
- What kind of a business can I list?
- You can list anyone, be it an individual or a company, private and public sectors, including but not limited to: General stores, retailers, takeaways, tradespeople, people who are working from home, door-to-door salespeople, schools, clubs, salespeople, internet businesses and anyone who has carried out a service or sold you a product.
- Can I edit my complaint after it has been published online?
- No, but you may post a follow-up or provide additional information.
- Only the Lister may post follow-ups (by clicking the blue button) on a Listing.
- Submitting a follow-up is essential because it provides feedback to help the business solve the problem and put things right. It will also help visitors who read your Listing understand how the complaint developed.
- Can I list the same business more than once?
- Yes, as long as it concerns different incidents. You can not re-list the same incident with a business after a settlement has been reached between you and the Listee.
- How long will it take to publish a Listing or a response online?
- We try to publish all Listings, responses and follow-ups within 48hrs, but delay is expected.
- Can the Lister, remove a Listing that was listed about a business?
- No, once a Listing is submitted it remains online, but you may post a follow up and resolve the complaint with the business.
- How do I respond to a Listing that was made against me?
- You will need Full Access Membership to respond to complaints, after that, you can go to the complaint and click the “Respond” green button.
- Only the Listee can respond to listings. The response option is designed to give the Listee (the listed business/seller/individual) a chance to tell their story.
- Failure to respond to and resolve a Listing within ten days of its listing date may result in you paying a fee of $195 to effect a late resolution.
- Why must I pay for a full Access Membership to respond to the complaint?
- The Full Access Membership is required for several reasons; some are:
- It is an administration fee allows the Listee to submit unlimited responses to solve complaints.
- It stops false responses and ensures that the concerned business is the one dealing with a particular complaint.
- It also contributes to the office time work needed to manage complaints.
- Can I remove my business name entirely from Dodgy Business?
- No. Dodgy Business has adopted the philosophy that consumers have the right to know that a particular business has been listed on dodgy business. Although a particular incident might be resolved, that does not change the fact that a complaint was made about the Listee. If it were otherwise, businesses might simply pay the fee, be completely removed and get away with it and consumers would be none the wiser.
- Once a Listing is posted, it can only be removed if the Listee provides a legitimate explanation.
- How do I resolve a Listing that was posted about my business?
- Fill out the Response Form and contact the Lister directly. Once a Listing is resolved, the Lister and the Listee must contact Dodgy Business to confirm their satisfactory resolution.
- Once we are satisfied that the Listing is resolved, your Listing will be classified as “Resolved” within 48 hours of receiving both confirmations.
- Resolved Listings are hidden from public viewing; only paid members can view them.
- Can I complain to Dodgy Business for Listing my business?
- Yes. If you feel someone has listed your business by mistake, contact us, and we will look into it carefully and make a decision. You will be advised of the outcome by email only. However, if you disagree with the content of a Listing, then you should post a response or try to resolve the matter with the Lister.
- Please be advised that Dodgy Business may post your correspondence online, in whole or in part, at any time without further notification.
Please read our Terms and Conditions before you list a business, respond, or request a removal.
